Periodontics is the specialty of dentistry that studies supporting structures of teeth, diseases, and conditions that affect them. The supporting tissues are known as the periodontium, which includes the gingiva (gums), alveolar bone, cementum, and the periodontal ligament. Dr Lee is also trained in the planning and placement of dental implants. To become a periodontist in Australia, an additional 3-year specialist training is required at a recognised institution after becoming a dentist.
